5K Color Run and Human Trafficking

Freedom Fest 2014
We enjoyed a great weekend! It was nice to spend time with my oldest and his girlfriend, get some DIYing done on the patio, one of my favorite ways to spend time with the hubby and work with Darling Daughter on a school project.

DD has a class in school called Social Action and they spend the year on various projects volunteering their time. She visits an Alzheimer's unit at a local nursing home each week. Their big fundraising project this year was a color run to benefit Freedom Place, a local organization working with human trafficking victims. Houston is one of the top rated cities for human trafficking, not a rating you want to have.

Every 5K needs a tutu!
I worked at the face painting table and Mr. Wonderful led the runners on his bicycle through the 5K course. There were several booths and activities for families of the runners and all of the proceeds benefited Freedom House.

The kids loved throwing the paint!

Although the kids worked hard to plan the event as you can see they also had a great time. A few of them enjoyed throwing their paint a little too much!

A great setting for a run along the Green Belt!

Lots of hard work!

Lots of fun!
The students raised well over $4,000! It was a great event for a great cause. I don't have any pictures of Darling Daughter because she was one of the photographers for the night.

Wonderful and I were able to stay pretty clean!
